How to Get Your Backyard Ready for Spring

March 21st, 2018

Each season brings a beauty of its own, but spring is by far the most beautiful. The sun becomes brighter, sharing its warmth with us. Nature awakens and colorful flowers come into bloom. But you may also notice some bare patches and broken branches that winter has left behind. There’s a bit of a cleanup that needs to take place.

Use these tips to get your backyard ready for spring.

Clean it up

Once the weather starts to warm, people are spending more time outdoors, basking in the warmth of the sun. Most homeowners even use their outdoor space to entertain their guests. If this is you, now is the best time to get started with your annual cleanup. Rake away all the old leaves, twigs, and debris in your backyard. Also, clean and examine your grill and barbecue tools and get them ready for barbecue fun.

Inspect your outdoor areas to see if there are items you can throw out or put away. It is always a good idea to declutter and organize your outdoor space while you’re on cleaning mode.

Plant some flowering plants

Nothing says spring like blooming flowers. Perennial plants like Saxifagra, Brunnera, Lungwort, and Hellebore are ideal for your garden since they can withstand even the crazy, chilly winter. That means, you’ll have a beautiful foliage of flowers year after year.

Planting flowers in your garden add a splash of color to your outdoor space. Plus, it makes your home more inviting and appealing.

Freshen up your outdoor furniture

Outdoor furnitures are built to withstand the elements. But after a few seasons on the patio or porch, you may notice some visible signs of wear and tear. If your furniture is still structurally sound, all it needs is a little freshening up. But if it is actually falling apart, it might be time to retire it.

Start by cleaning the chairs, tables, and other furnitures you have. You may also want to replace the cushion covers. Not only will they introduce a nice new look to your outdoor space, they will also make your seating more comfortable.

Light up the yard

Outdoor lighting is important, especially if you’re planning on spending more time outdoors. Not only will transform the look of your home, it also deters burglars and criminals from targeting your home.

There are different types of outdoor lighting. You can use some landscape lighting with low intensity bulbs to illuminate the path. You may add some string lights to up the ambiance in your outdoor space. Or better yet, add some security lights to dark areas to help secure your home. Choose the one that matches your needs.

What our customers are saying:

  • default image

"We used stone and concrete for some detail concrete, brick and cast Iron work on a 100 y/o Park Hill home. We were extremely satisfied with the work and professionalism with all of Stone and Concrete workers. We had a supervision onsite for all of the work - the owner of the company was also onsite at least once a day to assist when needed. Once the work started there was no work delays and the work continued through completion. There were quite a lot of details to the work which turned out quite nicely."
